SETTLEMENT PERMIT
What is a settlement permit?

A settlement permit is a permanent residence permit that allows a foreigner to live and work permanently in Germany. Unlike a temporary residence permit, the settlement permit is not tied to conditions such as a specific employment contract or purpose. It grants the holder the right to live and work in Germany without restriction and to move freely in other EU countries.

A settlement permit can be obtained under certain conditions.

These requirements typically consist of:

⦁ Holding a residence permit or Blue Card and meeting specific conditions, such as having worked in Germany for a certain period of time or being able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the German language.

⦁ Possessing a German university degree or an equivalent foreign university degree along with evidence of suitable employment.

⦁ Having acquired long-term residence status as an EU citizen.
